DETALJNIJI PRIKAZ PREDAVANJA NA ENGLESKOM JEZIKU:
This guest lecture explores the principles and emerging practices of Human-Centered Artificial Intelligence (HCAI), with a particular focus on the Human-Centered AI and Machine Learning (HCAIM) MSc programme—an EU-funded initiative designed to address the growing need for AI systems that prioritize human values, transparency, and societal benefit. We will examine the motivations behind the programme’s development, highlighting how human-centered design can reshape AI’s role across sectors. A key part of the lecture addresses the persistent pain points of Explainable AI (XAI), including limitations in interpretability, the gap between technical explanations and actual user understanding, and the tension between model performance and meaningful transparency. These challenges underscore the urgency of advancing AI approaches that genuinely empower end-users. The session then shifts to an EU-level perspective on AI in education, covering current policies, strategic priorities, and the European Union’s vision for trustworthy, inclusive, and ethical AI adoption across learning environments. Finally, we discuss practical pathways for developing AI specifically for educational contexts, emphasizing co-creation with educators and learners, responsible data practices, and the design of AI tools that enhance—not replace—human teaching - with an example: PreSS.
